DEPARTMENT J - MICHIGAN STATE FAIR CHAMPION HOMEMAKER

This award  will be given to the outstanding homemaker who is a Chelsea Community Fair exhibitor.  To be eligible for consideration the contestant must comply with the following:

 

1.  The exhibitor must be 18 years or older for State Fair Champion, or 17 years and younger for

     Junior Champion.

 

2.  The exhibitor must be a resident of the Chelsea-Dexter School Districts.

 

3.  The exhibitor must register for this award with the Superintendents in the Home Economics

     departments in the Green Exhibits Building by 5 p.m. on Sunday, August 20, and

     must submit an entry form obtained from the Superintendent or the Fair office.

 

4.  All exhibits must be made by the exhibitor and comply with the rules for exhibiting.

 

5.  The contestant must enter at least FOUR of the following Departments

                 

Antiques

Canning

Quilting

Floriculture

Machine Sewing

 

Arts

Needlework

 

Food Preparation

Agriculture Exhibits

 

 

The winner will be determined by total points accumulated.  Four points will be awarded for each blue ribbon, three points for each red ribbon, two points for each white ribbon, two points for each State Fair gold ribbon, and two points for each champion rosette.  The winner is eligible to attend the Michigan State Fair in 2007 and compete for the Grand Champion Homemaker Award with other county winners.

 

6.  The Junior Champion Homemaker contestant must enter items in at least four of the following

     Departments:

 

Antiques

Machine Sewing

Canning

Floriculture

Needlework

Quilting

Arts

Gift Wrapping

 

Food Preparation

Agriculture Exhibits

 

                 

7.  The Champion Homemaker can not be the same winner two years in a row starting with the        

     1998 Fair.

 

8.  Champion and Junior Homemaker winners will be contacted by the Superintendents

 

The winner will be determined by the total points accumulated.  The point system used will be the  same as in the Senior Champion Homemaker
