RULES

1.           Please read general rules and regulations beginning on page 12.

2.           Exhibitors must provide the department with their Social Security Number or they will not be allowed to sell at the Livestock Auction.

3.           Only lambs considered of Market Quality by Judge or Superintendent will be sold at sale.

4.           Approximately ten (10) lamb pairs or individual lambs will be shown in a Market Class.  The number of Market Classes maybe increased or decreased by the Superintendents, based on number of entries.

5.           Showmanship classes are limited to Club members showing lambs that have been officially  registered with the Lamb Club

6.           ALL EXHIBITS must remain on display until 9:00 A.M. on Sunday, August 27th.  Please pick up exhibits between 9:00 A.M. and 11:00 A.M. on Sunday, August 27th.

7.           Once an exhibitor's lamb has been awarded Individual Grand Champion the exhibitor is eliminated from entering their second lamb into the Reserve Champion competition.

8.           Any lamb being awarded Grand Champion Individual or Reserve Champion Individual, will not be eligible to compete for the Champion or Reserve Champion Pair/Pen class.

9.           All Grand Champion and Reserve Champion (Individual and Pair/Pen) market lambs must be sold at the Chelsea Community Fair Livestock Auction.

10.      Market animals must be owned by exhibitor.

11.      Exhibitor does not have to be the owner of animals in the Open Breeding classes.

LAMB CLUB RULES AND REGULATIONS

 

  1.  The name of the organization shall be the Chelsea-Dexter School District Lamb Club. The

       organization shall be governed by 2 or 3 superintendents which are appointed annually by

       the Chelsea Community Fair Board.

  2.  This club will be open to youth of the combined Chelsea-Dexter School Districts.  Members

       must be six (6) years old on or before August 31st of that fair year with the last year you may

       show being your senior year in high school.

  3.  All lambs should be in the member's possession by the first week in May, when there will be an

       announced weigh-in at the Chelsea Fairgrounds.  Only wether and ewe lambs are eligible.

       Ownership will be established at Spring weigh-in/tagging day and cannot be changed or traded

       thereafter.

  4.  Lambs will be tagged at weigh-in and must have tags on when entering the Fair and Livestock

       Sale.  Any damaged, lost or torn out tags must be immediately reported to superintendent or

       lamb will be ineligible.

  5.  No lamb will weigh more than 85 pounds at weigh-in.  There is no limit on top end weight at

       fair weigh-in.

  6.  Each member can weigh in four lambs, but can only show and sell two lambs.

  7.  Lambs are ineligible if after Spring weigh-in they have been consigned or sold at previous

       auctions or any other type of transaction, even if the exhibitor "buys back"  his/her animal.

  8.  Lambs weighing under 90 pounds at fair weigh-in can be shown but will not be sold.  Lambs

       weighing over 150 pounds at fair weigh-in can be shown and sold.  However, the buyer will

       only pay for 150 pounds.

  9.  No lamb will be sold at the auction if it is not judged market quality by the Superintendent

       and/or Judge.

10.  An inspection may be made by the Lamb Club Superintendent anytime prior to the fair.

11. Lambs shall be trimmed to the best of the member's ability.  Shearing style to be left to the

      member's decision.

12. Class weigh-in will take place upon arrival at the Fair on Tuesday, opening day of the Fair.

      There must be a family representative at the weigh-in or the lamb will not be weighed.  Any

      problem with attendance must be cleared with the Superintendent.

13. Dues will be established as needed.

14. A member or a family member must attend at least 50 percent of meetings and/or work sessions.

      Failure to do so may result in disqualification from this year's show.

15. Each member must maintain a set of records on their lamb as recommended by the Board of

      Directors of the Chelsea Community Fair. Records must be turned in to the Superintendent by

      12:00 noon on the Wednesday of the Fair Week, in order to be eligible to show and sell for the

      following year.  An end price and date of sale will be established before this date.
