RULES

  1.  Please read general rules and regulations beginning on page 12.

  2.  Exhibitors must provide the department with their Social Security Number or they will not be

       allowed to sell at the Livestock Auction.

  3.  Only hogs considered of Market Quality by Judge or Superintendent will be sold at sale.

  4.  Classes with less than 3 entries will be combined with other classes.

  5.  Showmanship classes are limited to Club members showing swine that have been officially

       registered with the Club.

  6.  ALL EXHIBITS must remain on display until 9:00 A.M. on Sunday, August 27.

       Please pick up exhibits between 9:00 A.M. and 11:00 A.M. on Sunday, August 27.

  7.  Once an exhibitor's market hog has been awarded Individual Grand Champion the exhibitor

       is eliminated from entering their second hog into the Reserve Champion competition.

  8.  Any market hog being awarded Grand Champion Individual or Reserve Champion Individual

       will not be eligible to compete for the Champion or Reserve Champion Pair/Pen class.

  9.  All Grand Champion and Reserve Champion (Individual and Pair/Pen) market hogs must

       be sold at the Chelsea Community Fair Livestock Auction.

 10. No entry into any barn prior to being opened by Fair Board Member each morning.

SWINE CLUB RULES AND REGULATIONS

 

1.    The name of the organization shall be the Chelsea-Dexter School District Swine Club.  The

       organization shall be governed by a 2 or 3 member Board of Directors which is appointed

       annually by the Chelsea Community Fair Board.

 

2.    The Swine Club shall be open to all farm youth in the Chelsea-Dexter School District.  The

       member must be six  (6) years old by August 31st, with the last year you may show being

       your senior year in high school.

 

3.    Swine maximum weight at initial spring weigh-in is 150 lbs.

 

4.    All pigs must be purchased before the third Saturday in May, at which date the pigs will be

       tagged.  A maximum of four pigs may be tagged per person.

 

5.    Pigs weighing under 200 pounds at fair weigh-in can not be shown or sold.

       Pigs weighing over 270 pounds at fair weigh-in can be shown and sold.  However, the buyer

       will only pay for 270 pounds.

 

6.    Each member is limited to two swine to be shown and sold as part of the Swine Club.  It will   

       be possible to show other swine at the Fair in the Open Class; however, these will not be sold.

 

7.    Swine may be displayed at the Fair in any group or display as long as it meets the approval of

       the superintendent.

 

8.    Pigs will be sold by order of placing in the different classes as established by the

       superintendent.

 

9.    Each member must maintain a set of records on their swine as recommended by the Board of

       Directors of the Chelsea Community Fair.   Records must be turned in to the Superintendent by

       1:00 p.m. on the Wednesday of the Fair Week, in order to be eligible to be able to show and sell

       for the following years fair.

 

10.    An inspection may be made by the Swine Club Board of Directors at least one (1) month prior

       to the Fair.

 

11.  Members must attend at least three (3) meetings to be eligible to sell at the Fair.

 

12.  Dues will be established as needed.

 

13.  Every member must show in the Showmanship Class as established by the superintendent,

       unless a member has permission from the superintendent not to show.

 

14.   Senior Swine Showmanship winner must participate in Sweepstates Showmanship or forfeit the

       Swine Showmanship award unless approved by the Superintendent.
